Police reports: two men shot, wounded in Athens; Athens man dies after chase in Rabun Co

Positive identification is pending on the body of a man who was found hanging from a tree off Rock Springs in Athens. Athens-Clarke County Police made the discovery. The 25 year-old man, originally from Ohio, went missing in December. His remains have been sent to the GBI crime lab in Decatur.

Athens-Clarke County Police continue their investigation into this week’s double-shooting on Sycamore Drive: two men were shot and hospitalized with what police say were non life-threatening injuries.

An Athens man is dead after fleeing from a traffic stop in Rabun County: the Georgia State Patrol says the body of 32 year-old Lazavier Cook was found in the Tallulah River after he drove away from the traffic stop on Highway 15 in Rabun County.

There are felony drug charges for a woman arrested in Elberton: the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office says 52 year-old Angela Holley was caught with methamphetamine. She’s also facing illegal weapons possession charges.

A 44 year-old Demorest man is arrested on arson charges: Shawn Harkness was booked into the Habersham County jail, accused of setting the Memorial Day fire that burned a motel in Cornelia. Harkness was taken into custody at a home in Alto.
