Barnegat-Area Coronavirus Updates: Committee Sued, Events Delayed
BARNEGAT, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Barnegat and Manahawkin.
Cases
The Ocean County Health Department has reported 269 total coronavirus cases in Barnegat and 271 in Stafford as of noon Thursday. The virus has killed 28 people in Stafford and 11 in Barnegat, but the OCHD has reported no new deaths since Barnegat-Manahawkin Patch's last update July 13. The OCHD has reported two new cases and Barnegat and eight in Stafford since then.
Officials reported 34 new cases Wednesday in Ocean County, bringing the area to 10,030 cases and 941 deaths.
Testing
Ocean County recently began testing asymptomatic patients July 6 at its Ocean County College drive-thru site.
To schedule a test appointment, Ocean County residents can visit the Ocean County Health Department website at www.ochd.org. If residents have any questions, they can call the Health Department at 732-341-9700, ext. 7411.
Additionally, Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care on Long Beach Island can test whether patients were previously infected with the coronavirus. Hackensack Meridian's urgent care centers began antibody testing May 2. MORE.

Recent Updates
Charles Cunliffe, a candidate for Barnegat Township Committee has sued the township and its committee members. The lawsuit claims the committee's adjusted protocols for accepting public comment during the coronavirus pandemic break state law. MORE.
The Barnegat Township School District will likely incorporate plenty of remote learning this fall. Administration's plan, as it stands, would allow some students to learn from home every day while others would physically attend school two days per week. MORE.

The date for Manahopkin 2020 has hopped around a couple times. Now the craft beer and music festival is set for Nov. 14 at Manahawkin Lake Park. MORE.
The Waretown Wine Festival won't take place until next year because of coronavirus concerns. The event was originally slated for last spring and postponed until September. Organizers have now pushed it to April 25 and 26. MORE.
