UPDATE:

No criminal charges were brought in the case of the threat brought to Staunton River High School Tuesday.

According to Bedford County Police, the "threat lacked merit and was unsubstantiated."

ORIGINAL STORY:

There is no threat at Staunton River High School after people voiced concerns about an online threat, according to Ryan Edwards, a spokesperson for Bedford County Schools.

There were concerns that a student may have had a gun on campus, but after investigating, officials say that was not true.

Still, between 150 and 200 of the school's approximately 950 students did not go to school Tuesday.

Officers are at the school and will remain there for the rest of the school day.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating the threat.

Investigators have identified the person who is believed to have made the possible threat and are interviewing that person at the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.
