CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield police said Wednesday that a 17-year-old was killed in a crash on Hull Street Road near Skinquarter Road.

According to police, a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling eastbound on Hull Street Road when the driver, only identified as a 17-year-old male from Amelia County, pulled from a crossover into the path of a tractor trailer that was moving westbound on Hull Street Rd.

Angela Becker told 8News that bad crashes like this are not uncommon in the area.

“My parents live down this road, and they’ve been here for 20 years or more,” she said. “So, we’ve seen a lot of wrecks up there at the store.”

She believes that traffic changes are long overdue, saying that without some steps to improve travel along the stretch of road, it’s just a matter of time before another serious wreck.

“Something really needs to be done with that intersection up there. I’m sure people have complained about it for years,” Becker said. “That road that comes out, they really need a stop light up here because of all the crashes. I mean, it’s always been like this ever since I can remember.”
