The film focuses on the real military tradition, also called Operation Christmas Drop, wherein a military base in Guam drops supplies and gifts on the most remote islands of Micronesia during the holiday season. So not only are you going to be charmed by a Netflix original holiday movie, you’re gonna learn a thing or two about history!

Where else have you seen Kat Graham?
Kat Graham plays congressional aide Erica, the woman tasked with auditing the air force base and potentially putting a stop to Operation Christmas Drop. If you love Graham in this movie—which you should, because she’s perfect in this genre—then you should check out her 2018 Netflix Christmas movie The Holiday Calendar. In that film, she plays a photographer who inherits an advent calendar that can predict the future! It’s a completely different role from her no-nonsense role in Operation Christmas Drop, and you know she’s got the range.
Speaking of range, Graham’s done more than just holiday movies for Netflix. She also starred alongside Theo James in Netflix’s 2018 apocalyptic thriller How It Ends. She plays the pregnant wife of the movie’s hero, stranded in Seattle waiting for him to traverse a dangerous country (post-apocalypse America) to get back to her.
Graham’s most notable role is, of course, playing the witchy Bonnie Bennett on all eight seasons of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries (also streaming on Netflix).
Where else have you seen Alexander Ludwig?
Alexander Ludwig plays Captain Andrew Jantz, a cargo pilot who moonlights as a Christmas elf every holiday season by orchestrating Operation Christmas Drop. It’s the most wonderful time of the year for him, and he makes sure to spread that joy to all the islands of Micronesia. This is Ludwig’s Christmas movie debut, as well as his Netflix debut.
If you want to see more of Ludwig, you can see him play Bjorn Ironside on the cult hit History channel drama Vikings, where he’s starred since Season 2. His next starring role will be alongside Stephen Amell on the STARZ wrestling drama Heels.
On the theatrical side, Ludwig’s star has risen considerably over the past year. He played Dorn in 2020’s Bad Boys for Life—the highest-grossing American movie of the year, thanks to COVID-19. He’s come a long way from his role as Cato back in 2012’s The Hunger Games!
