The Bergen County Players is continuing its 86th season with with Neil Simon’s 1988 comedy, “Rumors," which began this past weekend and will continue to June 2.
Performances take place at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell with curtain at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
The New York Times once heralded Neil Simon as “The Master of Comedy,” who wrote numerous screenplays as well as more than 30 Broadway plays. Among his most notable works are “Barefoot in the Park” and “The Odd Couple.”
In “Rumors,” the first guests at a dinner party find that the hostess is missing and the host has a superficial gunshot wound. To prevent a scandal, the first couple hides this situation from the second couple, and they hide it from the third, all the way down the line.
The cast includes Jeanmarie Garver-Gaydos of River Edge (Chris Gorman), Jody Laufer of Fair Lawn (Ken Gorman), Sharon Podsada of Emerson (Claire Ganz), James Lugo of Congers, NY (Lenny Ganz), Ron Siclari of Oradell (Ernie Cusack), Joanne Misha of Montvale (Cookie Cusack), Larry Shagawat of Clifton (Glenn Cooper), Elaine D’Addezio of New Providence (Cassie Cooper), Andrew Lennon of Oradell (Officer Ben Welch), and Mary Clair Bongiovani of Lodi (Officer Connie Pudney).
The Little Firehouse Theatre is located at 298 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell. Tickets for “Rumors” are $21 for Friday and Saturday performances and $17 for Sunday matinees, and can be purchased online at bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200, or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road during regular box office hours. There will be no performances on Mother’s Day, May 12, or Memorial Day Weekend, May 24 to 26.
