UNF Ospreys fall to Austin Peay

After 16 lead changes and 12 ties, Austin Peay finally prevailed over the University of North Florida 90-83 on Saturday at the Winfield Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tenn.

The Governors (4-4) pulled away from a 64-64 tie with 8:28 left on two layups on back-to-back possessions by Terry Taylor (20 points, 12 rebounds, three blocked shots) and the Ospreys (6-5) got within two points three times after that, the last time on a 3-pointer by J.T. Escobar (18 points) with 2:02 left to pull within 81-79.

Taylor answered with a three-point play and Austin Peay made 5 of 5 free throws down the stretch to stay ahead.

Escobar led five UNF players in double figures. Carter Hendricksen had 17 points and added 10 rebounds, Ivan Gandia-Rosa had 15 points and five assists, Garrett Sams scored 14 points had five rebounds and Wajid Aminu had 10 points.

However, Hendricksen, Aminu and Dorian James eventually fouled out.

Both teams shot more that 50 percent from the floor, Austin Peay making .542 (including 6 of 12 from the 3-point line) and the Ospreys hitting on .509.

Jordyn Adams had 17 points for Austin Peay, which won its fourth home game in a row. Carlos Paez had 16 points (making all six of his shots, including four 3-pointers) and seven assists and Eli Abaev scored 13.

J.T. Escobar had 18 points for the Ospreys (6-5). Carter Hendricksen scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Ivan Gandia-Rosa had 15 points.

The Ospreys play at Southern Miss on Saturday.
