A Mexican restaurant chain based in Australia is planning to open its first U.S. location early next year in Naperville. It’s one of several new businesses coming soon or already open in Naperville.

Guzman y Gomez

Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen is scheduled to open its first U.S. location in early 2020 at 1519 N. Naper Blvd., next door to the under-construction Culver’s restaurant.

The chain restaurant will offer fast food with drive-thru and dine-in options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the company’s website.

“Think jam-packed bacon and egg Breakfast Burritos and barista-made espresso coffee to start the day,” the website says.

“For lunch and dinner, our burritos and burrito bowls have the choicest cuts of beef, pork and chicken with black beans, rice and fresh vegetables such as chilies, tomatoes, capsicums, onions and avocados.”

Guzman y Gomez has locations Australia, Singapore and Japan. Although this is their first venture into North America, published reports say they have plans to make a large expansion into the U.S.

Filson

High-end outerwear and clothing company Filson will open its doors at 41 W. Jefferson Ave. at the end of September.

The Naperville store marks Filson’s first Illinois location. The company has stores on the East and West coasts as well as four in the Midwest and two in Texas. They also have locations in London, Tokyo and Canada.

“More workshop-like than a traditional store, the space features nods to Filson’s late 19th century founding — boasting 95 feet of hand-painted glass windows, railroad trestle inspired fixtures and vintage canvas tents repurposed as window and ceiling drapery,” according to a news release from the company. “Wooden ducks, chainsaw-carved wildlife and canoes will add to the Pacific Northwest feel of the store.”

Grand opening weekend events are scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and 29 and will include DIY leather keychain making, a Filson product raffle and beer.

A grand opening party is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 and will feature live music, beer from Solemn Oath Brewery, burgers from Empire Burger Bar, customized Filson gear from chainstitch artist Jessi Woska and a Filson product raffle.

Row House

A boutique rowing studio is scheduled to open in November at 1275 S. Naper Blvd. in the Market Meadows Shopping Center.

The fitness studio will offer low-impact, high-energy workouts on the rowing machines or ergometers, according to a news release from the company.

“Long recognized by the rowing community as one of the most effective forms of full-body exercise, Row House will provide Naperville residents an alternative fitness regimen that focuses on the safety and longevity of their bodies,” he release said. “The modern studio welcomes members into an atmosphere centered on comradery and drive, where participants row in-sync on state-of-the-art Concept2 rowing machines.”

The Naperville rowing studio is the first of three scheduled to open in the area. It will have six class offerings.

In addition to a food menu, the restaurant will offer a “beverage program that will pair perfectly with the food offerings,” the site said. “The craft beer program will feature a wide selection of over 24 rotating drafts with an emphasis on local and regional breweries.”
