As more employers around the country are requiring or considering requiring employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19, a local lawyer says that there are some options for employees regarding it.

Gary Phelan, of Mitchell & Sheahan, says employees he's talked to and represented are feeling the pressure about restrictions being implemented or discussed by their companies.

Some health care facilities and federal government employees are being mandated to get the vaccine. There is also the option for them to get weekly testing and requiring mask use.

Phelan says he expects more companies in Connecticut to follow suit, and in some cases, not giving employees many other choices.

New York City just announced a vaccine mandate for its workers this week. President Joe Biden also says people with the aftereffects of COVID-19 may have a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, so they may be accommodated.

Phelan says he also expects to see pressure from vaccinated employees who don't want to go back to work unless there is a mandatory vaccine requirement.
