Woman’s body discovered in river on North Side, police say
Two citizens found a woman’s body in the North Branch of the Chicago River early Sunday, according to Chicago police.
The body was found about 15 minutes past midnight in the 2600 block of West Addison Street on the North Side, police said. Chicago police marine unit and the Chicago Fire Department removed the body from the river.
The woman was wearing a black shirt and black jeans, police said. She appeared to have trauma to the head.
The body was taken to Swedish Hospital, where the woman was officially pronounced dead, police said.
She has not yet been identified.
Detectives are investigating the death, police said.
The cause and manner of her death are pending an autopsy.
