CONNECTICUT — For the first time since its inception, no new states or territories were added to the state's weekly coronavirus travel advisory Tuesday.

Of course, with 48 locations already on the roster, there really aren't that many areas left. The U.S. Virgin Islands was added to the list last week.

Nearly 1.2 million people passed through United States airports Sunday, the most since the start of the pandemic in March. Health experts warned that heavy travel over the next few weeks will contribute to a bigger coronavirus surge.

Connecticut directs incoming travelers from states and territories with a significant community spread of COVID-19 to self-quarantine for 14 days. The list is normally updated once per week every Tuesday.

CDC mulls changes to how long you'll need to quarantine

That two-week quarantine may soon get swapped for a slightly less onerous period of isolation, however. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is preparing to shorten the recommended length of quarantine after exposure to someone who is positive for COVID-19 down to 10 days, FOX 61 reported. The personal lockdown could be as short as 7 days if the exposed person tests negative. If that happens, it's a fair bet that Gov. Ned Lamont will need to address that in the state's travel quarantines.

States or territories are added to Connecticut's travel advisory list if they have a daily positive coronavirus test rate higher than 10 cases per 100,000 residents or a 10 percent or higher positive rate over a seven-day rolling average. Travelers must complete a travel health form or risk a civil penalty of $1,000 for each violation.

While there currently are no Connecticut-imposed restrictions on international travel, the federal government continues to provide international travel recommendations for anyone living inside the United States. For guidance on international travel, see the "COVID-19 Travel Recommendations" published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
