Notre Dame VP for student affairs to step down

South Bend Tribune

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame’s vice president for student affairs is stepping down, University President John Jenkins announced Thursday.

Erin Hoffman Harding, who has led the university’s Division of Student Affairs for nine years, has accepted a position with McKinsey & Co. where she began her career as a management consultant, according to a Notre Dame news release.

Hoffman Harding will step down at the end of May.

“In all her efforts, Erin has been devoted to the mission of Notre Dame and particularly to the well-being of our students,” Jenkins said in the release.

Hoffman Harding, a Notre Dame graduate, oversaw student-facing departments related to residential life, career and professional development, campus ministry and health and well-being.

During Hoffman Harding’s tenure, Notre Dame opened its Duncan Student Center and four new undergraduate residence halls, founded an Office of Student Enrichment serving low income, first generation students, introduced its GreenDot program for prevention of discriminatory harassment, launched its Moreau First Year experience course and adopted a Beloved Friends and Allies Pastoral Plan in support of LGBTQ+ students.

Prior to her role in student affairs, Hoffman Harding served as the first leader of the university’s Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Research.

“As excited as I am about my next challenge, I will miss Notre Dame and especially our students,” Hoffman Harding said in the release. “It has truly been an honor to serve my alma mater.”

The University of Notre Dame is still planning for in-person commencement ceremonies for the class of 2021, but a celebration for last year's class, which had been slated for this spring, has been canceled.
