TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died in a fire at her home in Alabama.

News outlets report that Colbert County Coroner Justin Gasque identified 69-year-old Gilda Stone as the woman who died inside of her home Sunday.

Locust Shores Fire Chief Ronnie Stonecipher says the woman’s grandson tried to put it out and then saw that the fire was all over the house. Stonecipher says the grandson ran out the door and Stone ran into the bathroom.

Stonecipher says Stone was found face down in the bathroom. Officials say she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gasque says the body will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Lab in Huntsville for an autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.
