On Saturday, the NHL hosted an outdoor game in Lake Tahoe at Edgewood between Nevada's own Vegas Golden Knights against the Colorado Avalanche.
The weather originally called for an overcast day with a bit of snow, but what they found was a cloudless blue sky, with lots of sun.
Before the game was stopped, the score was 1-0 with the Avalanche in the lead.
This unexpected weather change was not beneficial for the teams though, as the ice on the outdoor rink began to melt, causing multiple divots in the ice which caused both players and referees alike to fall across the ice.
At this point, the game has been postponed, and whether it will resume later this afternoon, this evening, or even tomorrow morning is unknown.
On Sunday, the Boston Bruins are set to play against the Philadelphia Flyers on the newly constructed Edgewood rink.
