Why should I watch it?

Based on a captivating New York Magazine article about a real-life crime case involving strippers who worked at a Wall Street-frequented strip club Scores in New York City, Hustlers is a must watch.

Many have credited Jennifer Lopez as delivering a career-high performance (then aged 50) starring as seasoned stripper and ringleader Ramona. The rest of the cast is pretty incredible too with Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Cardi B and Lizzo all giving memorable performances.

Why should I watch it?

Because Rihanna + Donald Glover = a dreamy combination. This gorgeous film (shot in Cuba) shows the artists at their best. We're treated to both of them singing as well - as they portray two natives of the fictional Guava Island hopelessly in love but desperate to better the lives of their community too.

3

Whiplash (2014)

Why should I watch it?

JK Simmons won an Oscar for his brilliant - and slightly terrifying - performance as a ruthless and demanding music instructor at a cut-throat school who pushes promising teenage drummer Andrew (Miles Teller) to his limit in this Damien Chazelle (La La Land) movie.

Why should I watch it?

Showing the world that Channing Tatum can do comedy, this 1980s remake, also starring Jonah Hill, Dave Franco and an incomparable Ice Cube is a wild ride of drugs, car chases, and plenty of quotable one-liners.

Also, is that Brie Larson?!

Why should I watch it?

For some light relief and to bask in the glory of Meryl Streep, the icy editor-in-chief, Emily Blunt as the insufferable (yet hilariously cutting) Emily and Anne Hathaway, the journalist who lands a job at the world's biggest fashion magazine despite having no interest in fashion. 'How do you spell Gabbana?'

Why should I watch it?

Based on a true story - and another fascinating article, this time from the New York Times - about a lawyer's determination to bring DuPont (who make pots, pans and a lot of other household equipment), to justice in this gripping Erin Brockovich-esque film. Shining a light on the devastating effects on a community in West Virginia after the company dumped chemicals into the grounds and water, it's a story so shocking that you won't believe you haven't heard of it up until now.
