Drunken Marion man drives through fence and field, injuring passenger, officials say

A passenger was injured Wednesday night after an intoxicated Marion man drove a car through a fence and into a field northeast of the city, authorities say.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office said 21-year-old David Bogert was driving with 19-year-old passenger Jordan Tomash, also of Marion, about 9:30 p.m. when the car went through a fence and down an embankment near the intersection of Prairie Chapel Road and Clemens Lane.
Tomash was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to a report from the sheriff's office. Bogert was not injured. Neither were wearing seat belts.
Bogert is charged with reckless driving, not wearing a seat belt, open container, and his second offense for operating while intoxicated.
Linn County Sheriff's Rescue, Marion Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Marion Fire Department and Area Ambulance all responded.
