UPDATE: I-25, Highway 287 reopen after winds and whiteout

Update, 9 a.m.: Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 287 are reopen. 

Red Mountain Road, which is county road 37 and located northwest of Fort Collins, is closed. 

Update, 3:03 p.m.: I-25 southbound at exit 268 Prospect Road has reopened. It was fully closed due to a crash, with no estimated time of reopening. All lanes are now open.

Original story: Saturday's wind and whiteout conditions have temporarily closed several interstates and roads.

Interstate 25 north of Wellington is closed in both directions. U.S. Highway 287 at Ted's Place to the Wyoming state line and U.S. Highway 85 in Weld County from Nunn to the Wyoming border are also temporarily closed, according to Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority.

Colorado Department of Transportation's traffic and travel reports said I-25 and U.S. 85 are both closed due to weather conditions in Wyoming, and suggests using alternate routes. 

It is not immediately known when the roads will re-open. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a High Wind Warning on Saturday at 8:07 a.m. until 6 p.m. for Northern Colorado areas including Larimer County.

“Strong winds will produce significant blowing snow and local ground blizzards … Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel will be difficult,” the alert said.

Winds are estimated at 35 to 45 MPH, with gusts of 75 to 85 MPH. FEMA said the strongest winds will occur in the foothills and along Highway 93 between Boulder and Golden.
