Grand Prix returns after delay, flood advisory for Middle Tennessee counties

The Music City Grand Prix returned Sunday at 4 p.m. following a weather delay.

Meanwhile, a flood advisory has been issued for Middle Tennessee counties.

The National Weather Service reported early Sunday afternoon that southeastern Davidson County will see about 40 mph winds and pea-size hail.

Shortly after the NWS statement, the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix issued a weather alert after seeing lightning near downtown Nashville. The Grand Prix advised attendees around 1 p.m. to take shelter in Nissan Stadium, Comfort Inn Hotel or La Quinta Hotel. 

The race's updated scheduled start time was 4:05 p.m.

Also, southeast Dickson County, northeast Hickman County, and western Williamson County are under a flood advisory through 4:45 p.m., according to NWS.

The NWS issued additional flood advisories for parts of Davidson, Sumner and Wilson counties until 4:15 p.m, and for Giles, Lawrence, Lewis and Maury counties until 5 p.m.
