A fire inside a maintenance building at Seal Beach’s Old Ranch Country Club on Sunday caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the structure and several golf carts, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

No injuries were reported.

The blaze inside the detached building near Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue was reported at 5:07 p.m., Capt. Thanh Nguyen said.

The fire was apparently caused by a malfunction in a battery system and a charger on one of the golf carts, Nguyen said. The department sent four engines and three trucks and extinguished the flames in about 20 minutes.
