10:28 PM UPDATE: the risk of severe storms has ended for North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee. A few isolated showers or storms may linger overnight, and we’ll be looking for a few more spotty storms on Saturday.

Widely scattered storms with very heavy rain and some gusty winds are developing again over North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Some have the potential to be severe; most will just be heavy, and some spots won’t see a single drop of rain tonight. How’s that for a summer-like setup!?

Be on the alert for the following impacts from any storm this evening:

  • Brief damaging wind gusts (50+ mph)
  • Hail (0.5″ to 1″ in diameter)
  • Frequent lightning
  • Heavy rain/flash flooding (localized 2″ totals are possible)

Keep track of the storms with the Live Alert 19 app as well as a NOAA weather radio. We will provide updates on TV as well as stream through our news and weather apps.
