New details come in case of body found in cemetery

Police say they believe Midland woman was murdered
SAGINAW The 23-year-old woman was found Sunday morning at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Spaulding Township south of Saginaw.

Investigators believe she was murdered. The victim's neighbors say they saw the woman on Saturday night.

Jessica Callan was due in court next week in Midland County on a drug charge, and her friends and neighbors believe drugs played a part in her death.

"Jessica was a very sweet girl," said Lissa Spicer. "She was struggling. Struggling. I miss her."

There were tears from the residents of the apartment complex where Callan lived -- tears and anger.

"I tried to talk to her, and say, 'Look, you've got to straighten your life out or something is going to happen to you," said Greg LaFramboise.

Callan's friends saw her Saturday night.

"I saw her at about 7:30 p.m. at my apartment, sitting out," Spicer said.

LaFramboise says he saw Callan get into a vehicle a few hours later.

"They left at 9:30 p.m.," he said. "There were three of four of them."

But LaFramboise says he knew something was wrong when and he and his girlfriend got a phone call from Callan at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, saying she had been dropped off at an unknown location.

Several hours later, police say Callan's body was found at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in near Saginaw, about 26 miles from her Midland home.

The cause of Callan's death is not being released, but investigators say they believe she was murdered.

"I'm nervous about what is going on right now and to know that somebody did this to her, dropped her off like a piece of garbage, it's very unsettling right now," Spicer said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, but the results of that are not known.
