NEW CASTLE, Ind. — A Springport woman and a New Castle man have each been arrested on meth-related charges

Rhonda Gail Addison, 49, was charged this week in Henry Circuit Court 1 with dealing in meth, a Level 4 felony carrying up to 12 years in prison.

According to an affidavit, Addison between June 4 and July 1 sold the drug to an informant for the Henry County Area Drug Task Force.

The court document said the transaction involved between one and five grams of meth.

On Tuesday, Judge Bob Witham scheduled Addison's trial for Feb. 28. She continued to be held in the Henry County jail on Wednesday under a $10,000 surety bond and a cash bond of $1,500.

At the time of her most recent arrest, Addison already faced four charges — possession of a controlled substance, possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a legend drug — in a pair of cases pending in Henry Circuit Court 2.

The Spiceland woman was convicted of possession of meth last year.

Last week, a 38-year-old New Castle man, Christopher "Beetlejuice" Upton, was also charged in Circuit Court 1 with dealing in meth, a Level 5 felony with a maximum six-year sentence.

Upton was arrested after New Castle police were called to a house, in the 500 block of South 12th Street,  he had reportedly been staying in.

Found in the residence, according to court documents, were two bags containing meth, 19 used hypodermic needles, four marijuana pipes, a "large amount" of marijuana, a set of digital scales and a loaded 45-caliber handgun.

Upton is also charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

His trial was also set for Feb. 28.

The New Castle man's record includes convictions for possession of meth and strangulation.
