Texas Tech coach Matt Wells landed commitments in the past week from Gunter safety Hut Graham and from Centennial (Colo.) Eaglecrest offensive lineman Kaden Weatherby.

The Texas Tech football team picked up an oral commitment Saturday night from Kaden Weatherby, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive lineman from Centennial (Colo.) Eaglecrest.

Weatherby announced his pledge to Tech via Twitter.

According to recruiting services, nine schools have offered Weatherby a scholarship, eight from power-five conferences. He has told recruiting services that Tech was on his short list with Kansas State. He was leaning to Michigan before a change on the Wolverines' coaching staff.

Michigan State, Arizona State, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas and Colorado State also have offered Weatherby a scholarship.

Eaglecrest, a Class 5A school, went 4-2 during the pandemic-delayed 2020 season in which the Raptors didn't play until October, then went 4-1 in district and lost their first playoff game.

Weatherby is Tech's second commitment for its 2022 class. Gunter quarterback-defensive back Hut Graham pledged on Tuesday to the Red Raiders, who are recruiting him to play safety.
