Two people were killed Tuesday following a head-on collision in Yavapai County near Skull Valley, officials said.

The two-vehicle collision occurred just after 3 p.m., on Iron Springs Road when a white 2014 Chevrolet 3500 crew cab truck traveling north toward Prescott drove past the center line and collided head-on with a 1989 Toyota Camry sedan, which was traveling south toward Skull Valley, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

Skull Valley is located about 20 miles west of Prescott.

Both occupants of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet suffered non-life threatening injuries, the agency added.

The identities of those involved in the collision were not released Wednesday.

The sheriff's office said there had been some difficulty tracking down family members of those who died in Tuesday's collision.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office offered no additional details Wednesday.
