ADAMS, Maxine N, age 87, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on December 31, 2019. She is survived by son Philip A. Adams, former daughter-in-law Denise M. Adams, three grandchildren, Ashley M. Adams, Christopher A. Adams, and Candace M. Adams and one great-grandchild Corey T Annaloro. She has been a resident of Fort Lauderdale since 1963, originally from Dover, Tennessee. Maxine was in the banking business for over 30 years employed by First Federal of Broward/Glendale Savings, and Flagler Federal Savings. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, 401 SE 15th Ave Fort Lauderdale, 33301. Esther Ruth (nee Margolin) Knopfmacher of Coral Springs, Florida, formerly of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on January 4, 2020, at the age of 85. Esther Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Arthur. Esther Ruth worked for the Federal Government until moving to Florida in 1986, where she became a realtor and travel agent, travelling all over the world. She was honored with a Small Business Owners award for work with the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce.Loving mother of Phyllis Day, Lewis (Susan) Knopfmacher, Joel (Marianne) Knopfmacher and Jane Knopfmacher. Cherished grandmother of Amy (Michael Jr.) Fisher, Daniel Knopfmacher, Jennifer Knopfmacher, Ben Knopfmacher, Arthur Knopfmacher and grand-dog, Baci. Adored great-grandmother of Jacob Fisher and Kayla Fisher. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 2:00pm at Hebrew Friendship Cemetery, 3600 E. November 2nd, 1941 – December 31st, 2019 Dr. Alex A Bezjian passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, after being diagnosed 12 months ago. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon and attended the American University of Beirut for both high school and graduate school. He subsequently completed a medical school internship at the American University hospital. Upon graduation, he left Beirut for an OBGYN residency at the University of Miami. He joined the faculty at UM as an academician and was one of the pioneers in developing the diagnostic science of OBGYN ultrasound in the early 1970s. He advanced the technology through research, and he performed sonograms on women with the most complicated obstetrical cases in South Florida in the 1970s and early 1980s. At the time, he became the youngest tenured professor at the UM Medical School. In 1986, he went into private practice, specializing in OBGYN ultrasound and prenatal genetic diagnosis with amniocentesis. He had offices in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Lakes, and South Miami. During his career, he gave countless lectures around the world, and authored many journal publications in addition to writing two textbook chapters. He was a member of the national OBGYN ultrasound society and was president of the Miami OBGYN society in 1988. He retired from practice in 2000. His favorite hobbies were tennis and thoroughbred horse racing. When he was young, he was a member of the Lebanese tennis team, and represented Lebanon against many Middle Eastern countries including Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Kuwait and Greece. He was also an avid horse owner and won multiple races throughout the United States. He is survived by his lovely wife Marianne, his 2 children (Alex Jr. and Marisa) and grandson Alex III. They are all extremely proud of him and miss him very much. The friends and acquaintances of Dr. Bezjian are invited to celebrate his life during a viewing on Wednesday, January 8th from 6pm-8pm at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home (718 Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale 33316). Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale (401 S.E. 15th Avenue)at 1pm on Thursday, January 9th, with graveside service and reception immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute at Holy Cross Hospital (www.holycrossdonations.com/), or to the Armenian Missionary Association of America (amaa.org/memorial-donations/), a charity Dr. Bezjian himself contributed to frequently, in support of child education and welfare in Armenia and Lebanon.

Carol J Himmelheber, passed away peacefully in her home in Margate Florida on Saturday November 30, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 65.Carol was born in Buffalo NY, May 8, 1954. She was a daughter of the late Genevieve and Frank Gilbert. Carol was a longtime Margate resident.Carol married Randy Himmelheber on August 6, 1983. She was a longtime employee at American Express until her retirement 1 year ago .She loved traveling with Randy, spending time with her family and friends, relaxing on the beach and playing with their dog, Bella. Carol also loved taking pictures wherever she went. Carol was involved with the Margate Elks Club and at the St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Coral Springs .Carol was very fun loving person with a zest for life. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.Carol was predeceased by her parents and a nephew. She is survived by her husband Randy, Sisters Joanne and Patti, 7 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.There will be a funeral service on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 @ St. Mary Magdalene EpiscopalChurch@ 1400 Riverside drive, Coral Springs, Fl. @ 11:00 AM with a celebration of life to follow in the Parish Hall.

Dona Miller Adams, 62 resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on January 2, 2020. She was born on December 27, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Jackie & Bill Chigaros.She married William “Bill” Adams, Jr. on April 25, 2004 in Santa Fe, NM.She is preceded in death by; “OUR BEAUTIFUL BOY” David Miller, sister Gail Chigaros, father & stepmother, Bill & Helen ChigarosShe is survived by: her husband, William “Bill” Adams, Jr, mother & stepfather, Jackie & Dick Turnbull, sister, Kathleen (Scott) Axe, many nieces & nephews& countless friends.Dona was an amazing mother, wife, friend & business woman – rising in the ranks of the burgeoning Telecom Industry, retiring as Vice President of Human Resources of a Fortune 500 Company. Margaret “Peg” Bloch, 79, of Fort Lauderdale passed away on December 28, 2019. Peg was born in New York City and raised in Northern Virginia. She attended Peabody Conservatory (now Peabody Institute) and Boston University. She played oboe in philharmonics throughout the United States and fought for civil rights. With her late husband, they developed “Old Towne Village” shopping malls in numerous states. She leaves behind four children Dr. Ruth Wilson, Alexis Rosenberg, Esq. (s. Bruce Rosenberg, Esq.), Hope Ruffin (s. Lonnie Ruffin), Tristan Coulsting and eight grandchildren. Sarah Lee Banaszak, of Fernandina Beach, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the age of 93. Born April 20, 1926 in Tampa, Florida, she was the eldest of three children born to Angus and Mildred (McFarlan) Williams, Sr.Sarah Lee was a cheerleader at Hillsborough High in Tampa and a graduate of Florida State University. In 1964 she and her husband, Howard, founded Bazaszak Concrete Corporation, which operated successfully for 53 years.Upon retirement, Sarah Lee and her husband enjoyed international travel and spending time at their home in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Howard Banaszak, Sr. her daughter, Graceanne, her brothers, Henry “Mac” Williams and Angus Williams, Jr.She leaves behind her son, Howard Banaszak and wife, Diane, of Fernandina Beach, their children, Olivia Haggerty and Annagrace Pfister and great grandchildren, Amelia and Duane Haggerty.
