MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough police and animal control officers rescued a hawk that was trapped in a net at the high school last week. The rescue also presented an opportunity for police to take a swipe at football rival Hudson Hawks.

The rescue happened at the baseball field at Marlborough High School on Nov. 7. The hawk was gently tossed into the sky by Lt. Thomas Bryant.

"Sorry Hudson, we won’t be so nice to the Hawks on Thanksgiving!" police wrote in a Facebook post. Marlborough will play the Hawks on Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. in Hudson.
