Binghamton University gets $60 million donation for baseball

Binghamton State University is receiving $60 million from an anonymous donor to transform the school’s baseball stadium into a state-of-the-art complex.

Upgrades will include a revamped stadium with increased fan seating and an 84,000-square-foot indoor training facility with a clubhouse and turf baseball infield, as well as locker rooms, batting cages, coaches’ offices, study spaces, and an athletic training room.

Fawley Bryant Architecture is in charge of the project, which when completed will meet NCAA requirements for hosting postseason tournament play. The Florida-based commercial architecture firm has done work on the Atlanta Braves spring training complex, IMG Academy Fieldhouse, and the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

School officials said the project will begin in the next few weeks and is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2021 baseball season.
