REGIONAL — Nobles County recorded its 29th death, while Cottonwood County reported its first death due to complications from COVID-19, during the last 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Monday. The information was released Tuesday morning by the Minnesota Department of Health.
The Nobles County death was an individual aged 65 to 69, while the Cottonwood County death was an individual aged 75 to 79. No other information is provided by MDH.
Minnesota recorded another 38 deaths from COVID-19 during the 24-hour period. Among the dead were 15 individuals who resided in private residences, and 21 individuals in long-term care facilities. There have now been 3,303 Minnesotans lost to COVID-19, including 2,244 residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
Cottonwood County continues to see large numbers of positive cases, with 36 residents testing positive for the novel coronavirus during the 24-hour period. Rock County added another 34 cases, while Jackson County added 19, Nobles County added 18, Murray County added 14 and Pipestone County added two new cases.
The state added 6,423 new cases in the 24-hour period, following positive test results, bringing the state’s cumulative total of confirmed positive cases to 282,916 (positive tests and antigen tests), with 233,847 beyond the 10-day isolation period.

Thus far, 21,078 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the novel coronavirus.
A local snapshot of the virus shows the following cumulative totals since testing began. The number of recoveries and current positivity rate is based on information released Nov. 19 by MDH.
Nobles County: 2,969 positive cases; 11 probable cases; 2,668 beyond the 10-day isolation period; 29 deaths; positivity rate of 21.6%.
Cottonwood County: 720 positive cases; 23 probable cases; 434 beyond the 10-day isolation period; one death; positivity rate of 7.2%.
Jackson County: 424 positive cases; five probable cases; 300 beyond the 10-day isolation period; one death; positivity rate of 8.4%.
Murray County: 538 positive cases; five probable cases; 386 beyond the 10-day isolation period; three deaths; positivity rate of 8.6%.
Pipestone County: 665 positive cases; eight probable cases; 469 beyond the 10-day isolation period; 18 deaths; positivity rate of 8.3%.
Rock County: 666 positive cases; 11 probable cases; 469 beyond the 10-day isolation period; nine deaths; positivity rate of 7.2%.
According to the Nobles County Joint Information Team: “It is very important to stay home when you feel sick and/or you, or someone within your household, is waiting for COVID-19 test results.
“Only members of the same household are advised to meet at any given time for a gathering.
“Residents need to remain vigilant in the use of universal precautions. Hand washing with soap (for 20 seconds), physical distancing, staying out of crowded/confined spaces with others, and the use of face masks are important.”
Congregate care facilities in this area with COVID-19 exposures include Adrian Country Living Cottages, Adrian; Parkview Manor, Ellsworth; Ecumen Meadows, Golden Horizons, Crossroads Care Center and South Shore Care Center, all in Worthington; Colonial Manor Nursing Home and Valley View Assisted Living, Lakefield; Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton; Good Samaritan Society homes in Jackson, Luverne, Mountain Lake, Windom and Westbrook; Ridgeview Estates, Pipestone; and the Minnesota Veterans Home, Luverne.
The Iowa Department of Health reports 215,582 cases of COVID-19 in its state since testing began, with 119,685 individuals considered recovered. Thus far, 2,224 deaths are blamed on COVID-19 in the state.

Dickinson County: 1,280 positive cases (17 new cases in the last 24 hours); 768 recovered; 10 deaths.
Lyon County: 968 positive cases (20 new cases in the last 24 hours); 553 recovered; eight deaths. Long-term care facilities with current infections include the Good Samaritan Society, George, with two cases; and Fellowship Village, Inwood, with one case.
Osceola County: 501 positive cases (7 new cases in the last 24 hours); 298 recovered; one death. Long-term care facilities with current infections include Country View Manor, Sibley, with six cases.
Nationwide, Johns Hopkins University reports a cumulative total of 12,433,676 positive cases of COVID-19 in the United States as of 10:30 a.m. today, with 4,633,600 individuals deemed recovered. There have been 257,991 COVID-related deaths in the United States.
