After ‘COLDFIRE’, Riddhi to direct a feature film now
Riddhi Sen’s dream project, the short filmCOLDFIRE’, was screened at the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival under the Short and Documentary Panorama (Non-competitive) section on January 11 at Kolkata Information Centre (Beside Shishir Mancha). The short film earned a lot of praise from viewers and critics alike.
After the screening, a super delighted Riddhi also gave a hint on the next project he is planning to direct.
“My next will be a feature film. It’s a love story between an individual and the city of Kolkata. I am sure people will relate to the story,” shared the talented actor.
Riddhi's directorial debut ‘COLDFIRE’ is an adaptation of Nabarun Bhattacharya's short story of the same name. In 2029, a global real estate tycoon Mr. K.P. Sarkar (Koushik Sen) comes across a salesman named G.B. (Somak Ghosh) who wants to sell a mysterious gadget called ‘Coldfire’. It’s a gadget that has been invented to improve and make funerals exclusive for the upper classes of society. Riddhi says ‘COLDFIRE’ is a dystopian dark comedy that talks about the unending class struggle in our society that has been going on for decades.
“I read the short story when I was very young and wanted to work on it. In 2017, my maternal grandfather passed away and it was my first visit to a crematorium. My life changed after that and it was that moment when I was absolutely sure about making this film,” Riddhi had told us earlier while speaking the short.
