Billy Ray Cyrus is coming to New Mexico.

This year, he will be headlining the Memorial Fireworks Extravaganza in Roswell on July 4th at the Cielo Grande Recreation Area.

Cyrus is best known for his 1992 country single “Achy Breaky Heart” and his pop singing daughters Miley and Noah Cyrus. Billy Ray Cyrus recently made headlines after being featured on “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.

The song which blends the country and trap genres was removed from its 19th spot on the Billboard country chart, sparking controversy. Billboard released a statement to Rolling Stone magazine stating that “while ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to county and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version”.

Cyrus defended the 19-year-old artist and was featured on a remix of the song which has now been number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for three weeks in a row. Additional details about performances at the Annual Fireworks Extravaganza will be announced as the event draws near.
