Michigan Reports 982 New Coronavirus Cases, 8 New Deaths Thursday

MICHIGAN — Michigan added close to 1,000 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday as nearly 120,000 cases of the respiratory illness have now been confirmed in the state.

Health officials in Michigan reported 982 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide case total in Michigan to 119,597. Officials also said that eight more people have died from the coronavirus, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 6,700.

Michigan added over 700 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday while also reporting 12 more deaths. Officials said that as of Friday more than 90,000 people in Michigan had recovered from the virus.

According to the World Health Organization, Michigan is 17th in the U.S. in reported cases of the coronavirus. Michigan ranks ninth in the nation in COVID-19 deaths.

More than 7.1 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. Nearly 207,000 people in the U.S. have died from the coronavirus. More than 4.4 million people in the U.S. have recovered from the virus.

Over 32.2 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. More than 984,000 people have died worldwide from the virus, while over 23.7 million people have recovered. There are more than 7.4 million active cases of the coronavirus.
