Love Island fans are comparing Sharon Gaffka's reaction to Danny Bibby during last night's recoupling to an iconic 2019 moment featuring Anton Danyluk.

Cast your mind back to the last summer series of Love Island, and you might remember a video of Anton went viral during a recoupling. In it, the contestant was seen smiling at Anna Vakili during her recoupling speech, because he thought she was going to choose him.

In reality, Anna chose to recouple with Sherif Lane, causing Anton's face to drop on camera. It was both sad and hilarious.

During last night's episode [18 July], fans noticed something similar happened for Sharon. The contestant had been on a date with bombshell Danny and hoped to recouple with him. Which might be why she was smiling at him during his recoupling speech, where he said, "I would like to couple up with this girl because first time I came into the villa, I was drawn to her.

"Getting to know her, realised we had a lot more in common than I thought. She's stunning and I can see myself having a future with her."

In reality, he chose to recouple with Lucinda Stratford, and Sharon was eventually dumped from the villa. Fans have commented on the similarities in Anton and Sharon's reactions, and it's actually quite savage.

"Nooo the fact Sharon was smiling cos she thought Danny was gonna pick her reminds me of the Anton moment [sic]," one person wrote, while another added, "I’m crying Sharon pulled an Anton thinking she was going to be picked by Danny."
