What were the odds and did the bookies get it right?

The bookies across the board, including Ladbrokes, William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power, were sure that it would have been Albert.

Louis was a fairly popular choice with odds of 14/1 at Ladbrokes and Coral, but it was Paddy Power that came closest with odds of 8/1.

Albert flared up in the run-up to the name announcement after a red herring emerged based on a URL for the royal website was reported. This saw Albert shoot to the top.

The odds on Albert ranged between 2/5 to 4/9 - either way, it was a fairly sure bet according to the bookies.

Following that Arthur, which did eventually get chosen but as a middle name.

Other names that were popular were James and Alexander.
