Three motorcyclists, a pedestrian and an SUV driver were killed in Bay Area traffic accidents over the weekend, and three other people were critically injured in a six-car pileup.

  1. Woodside, Friday at 4:50 p.m. A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a tow truck on La Honda Road (Highway 84) a half-mile west of Portola Road.
  2. Contra Costa County, Friday at 5:22 p.m. A six-car pileup on Vasco Road north of Camino Diablo injured eight people, three of them critically.
  3. Oakland, Friday at 11:54 p.m. A 46-year-old Livermore man was killed on Interstate 980 when he lost control of his motorcycle, was thrown to the pavement and was then struck by a pickup truck.
  4. Concord, Sunday at 12:24 a.m. A motorcyclist was killed when he ran into the back of a car and was thrown to the roadway and struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck did not stop.
  5. San Rafael, Sunday at 3:40 a.m. A driver was killed and his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries when their Ford Expedition veered onto the embankment of Highway 101 at Lucas Valley Road, hit a light pole and tipped over in the slow lane.
  6. San Francisco, Sunday around 2 p.m.: A driver in a rented Tesla allegedly ran a red light at Taylor and O’Farrell and struck a Mini Cooper. Two pedestrians in the crosswalk were also hit, and one of them has died from his injuries.
