Person Struck By Metro Train At Dunn Loring, Dies At Hospital

Police believe the person intentionally went onto the tracks when an Orange Line train was approaching.

DUNN LORING, VA — A person struck by a train at the Dunn Loring station Wednesday has died, according to Metro.

A Metro spokesperson confirmed the death in an email to Patch. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews extricated the person from under the train and took him to the hospital in critical condition. He died of his injuries later at the hospital.

The person's identity was not released. According to Metro Transit Police, the man intentionally went onto the track as the train entered the station.

The incident caused temporary single tracking between the Vienna and West Falls Church stations on Metro's Orange Line. As of 4:23 p.m., regular service has resumed. Riders should continue to expect delays in both directions.
