A new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is coming today, Monday, October 21. And alongside this new look at the upcoming movie, advance tickets for the much-anticipated sci-fi blockbuster will go on sale as well prior to its release in theaters this December.

Ticket-seller Fandango confirmed the Episode IX ticket availability date in a press release. Fandango's Erik Davis said, "We are beyond excited to see how this momentous chapter in Star Wars storytelling nears its end."

It's not exactly clear when, precisely, tickets will go on sale, though it could be tied to the release of the trailer this evening US time. For previous Star Wars movies, advance ticket sales drew a huge amount of interest and some ticketing sites went down. Given that The Rise of Skywalker is the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, it's expected there will be a huge amount of interest in advance ticket sales for the new movie.

As noted in the tweet above, the new Rise of Skywalker trailer will premiere at some point during Monday Night Football. A specific time isn't scheduled, but the MNF broadcast of the game between the New England Patriots and New York Jets starts at 5:15 PM PT / 8:15 PM ET on ESPN.

The new Rise of Skywalker trailer and advance ticket availability comes on October 21, which would have been Carrie Fisher's 63rd birthday.

The Rise of Skywalker opens in theatres on December 20. Fans won't have to wait that long to see new Star Wars content, however, as the new Star Wars live-action TV show, The Mandalorian, premieres in November on Disney Plus.

As for Star Wars video games, Titanfall and Apex Legends developer Respawn's new game, Jedi Fallen Order, launches on November 15. GameSpot recently went hands-on with the new game, and you can check out our impressions in the story below.
