Syracuse, N.Y. -- The record-breaking winter storm is over, and Upstate New York got hammered.
More than 2 feet of snow fell in several places in the Capital Region and Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service listed the snowiest place as the Rensselaer County town of Schaghticoke, with 27.5 inches.
The Albany airport, the official measuring station for the state capital, posted 22.6 inches Sunday. That’s the 8th biggest snowstorm on record for the city, and the most snow in one storm since the Blizzard of ’93, the weather service office reported. Albany also set daily records for Dec. 1 and 2.
More than 50 locations, spread across 20 counties, got at least a foot.
In Syracuse, 8.8 inches fell. Binghamton had 10.6. The nor’easter brought little snow to Western New York: Rochester had 5.1 inches, and Buffalo just 1.1 inches.
