Two injured in Mecosta County ATV crash

MECOSTA COUNTY, MI - A 43-year-old Rodney man and 10-year-old girl were hurt after crashing an ATV in Chippewa Township, according to a news release from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to the crash at roughly 7 p.m. Saturday. Police determined the 10-year-old was driving the ATV on 105th Avenue near Cutler Street when she lost control and crashed the vehicle. The 43-year-old passenger had minor injuries and was taken to a Big Rapids hospital by Mecosta County EMS, according to the release. A parent took the driver to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A third passenger, an 8-year-old girl, was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash while the driver and adult passenger were not, according to the release.
