‘Hoosier Star’ finals presented virtually

LAPORTE — The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra’s 2020 “Hoosier Star” singing competition will be a virtual event livestreamed at 7 p.m. CDT Saturday.

The finalists are Jamileh Cornejo of LaPorte; Julia Larson, Chesterton; Lily Belle Nuest, Kouts; Raul Palma, LaPorte; and Grace Phillips, Westville, all in the youth division for ages 17 and younger; and Alyse Flores, LaPorte; Alanna Mossell, Portage; Leann Stutler, Crown Point; Alora Tribole, Chesterton; and Evan Wooding, LaPorte, all in the adult division.

South Bend Symphony Orchestra Music Director Alastair Willis returns for the third year to conduct musicians from the LaPorte County Symphony as they accompany each singer on a song of his or her choice.

The livestream may be watched at the competition’s Facebook page; the LCSO’s Facebook, website and YouTube sites; and WIMS-AM (1420)’s Facebook page. It also will be broadcast at 1420 AM and 95.1 and 106.7 FM.

Voting will take place during the competition by going to lcso.net. Each vote costs $10.
