Itasca resident dies of COVID-19

Jun. 7—An Itasca resident over 100 years old has died of COVID-19 related illness according to the Minnesota Department of Health on Sunday. This brings Itasca County's death toll from the pandemic to 61.

The death was one of four deaths reported statewide. Minnesota also added 271 new cases statewide on Sunday, 26 of which were Northeastern Minnesota residents.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northeastern Minnesota counties:

— Aitkin — 1; 1.3.

— Carlton — 3; 1.9.

— Cook — 0; 0.1.

— Itasca — 7; 3.9.

— Koochiching — 3; 1.1.

— Lake — 4; 0.6.

— St. Louis — 8; 6.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has not updated its COVID-19 related data since June 4.

Percentage of people with at least one vaccine dose in each county:

— Aitkin — 49%.

— Carlton — 57%.

— Cook — 72%.

— Itasca — 46%.

— Koochiching — 46%.

— Lake — 56%.

— St. Louis — 55%.
