Citing a study from Buildzoom, the event’s organizers said the state lost nearly 20% of its construction workforce between 2005 and 2016.

The bunk beds will be donated to nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace, according to the release. The group is “dedicated to building, assembling and delivering beds to children and families in need,” it said. Some beds are headed to local families in Pasadena, but most are headed to victims of last year’s Camp Fire.
