Yasiel Puig is looking for a new home and the Boston Red Sox are rumored to be interested in the outfielder.

After last season, it’s clear that the Boston Red Sox could use some help. Injuries didn’t help Boston’s case, but that wasn’t the whole reason that they played so poorly. Signing Yasiel Puig could help turn things around at Fenway.

The loss of Mookie Betts can’t even begin to be described. It was a franchise altering move that took the Red Sox from contenders to the bottom of the AL East.

One of the areas where Boston struggled the most was at the plate. Replacing Betts’ output at the dish was an impossible task.

As we near the 2021 season, getting a player like Puig could make a difference. After bursting out during his rookie scene, Puig has become an average player. Last season he boasted a .267 batting average with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs.

So clearly the power is still there which makes Puig an interesting target. Fenway could help boost those home run totals even more.

But Puig is also good when he is out on the field. He is known for his powerful arm so he wouldn’t be a liability if you asked him to play the outfield.

Boston’s upper management also might have other motivations to bring in Puig. With his personality and flair, Puig is able to grab the attention of any baseball fan. Some have even called him one of the most polarizing players in all of baseball.

It’s unknown when fans will be able to flood Fenway Park again but acquiring a player like Puig will make people want to spend their money and watch their favorite team play.

It’s quite possible that Puig signs a prove it deal that doesn’t cost too much. If Boston can sign him for the right price it almost makes too much sense for the Red Sox to sign him.

So don’t be too surprised if Puig ends up in Boston. The deal makes sense for both parties.
