Singles play keeps Central Catholic boys tennis rolling

Austin Chyall remained undefeated at No. 1 singles, sweeping Brock Deno 6-0, 6-1 to lead Central Catholic past Twin Lakes 4-1 in Monticello.

Brenner Oliver improved to 6-0 at No. 2 singles, outslugging Luke Smock 6-2, 6-4. The Knights' other straight sets victory came from the No. 2 doubles team of Sam Martin and Griffin Chyall. 

Sebastian Lux had to earn his seventh victory at No. 3 singles, outlasting Ethan Luzzader 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Central Catholic improves to 8-1.

► Quick singles victories from Luke Riley and Christian Maggio set the tone for Lafayette Jeff's 5-0 victory against Crawfordsville.

Both dropped just three games at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, on a day when the Bronchos received straight sets victories at all five positions.

► A 6-1, 6-0 victory from Hunter Keeling was the beginning of a singles sweep for Fountain Central (6-1, 2-0), which remained undefeated in Wabash River Conference play with a 4-1 victory against South Vermillion.

► It was a short day on the doubles courts for Frankfort's Nic Kinder/Isaac Hunter and Chase Thomas/Jesus Garcia, who combined lost just two games during the Hot Dogs' 5-0 sweep of Carroll.

► Nathan Price, Evan Price, Jace Jacoby and Rossville's No. 1 doubles team of Bryce Olvier and Dawson Jacoby each earned 6-0, 6-0 triumphs during a 5-0 win against Taylor.

Boys soccer

Anthony Ocampo scored three goals to lead Twin Lakes past Benton Central 5-0 in a Hoosier Conference match.

Danny Encarnacion scored the other two goals for the Indians, who pulled away from a 2-0 halftime lead. Edgar Estudillo passed out three assists, and Elvin Gutierrez had two.

► Jacob Dahmen scored his 16 and 17th goals of the season to guide Rossville past North Montgomery 3-1.

Kelton Saylor also scored for the Hornets, who outshot the Chargers 11-3.. Colby Coon scored for North Montgomery..

Girls golf

Seniors Katy Benefiel and Paige Terry led Frankfort to a senior night victory against McCutcheon 198-221 at Frankfort Commons.

Medalist Benefiel shot 41, while Terry was runner-up with 49.
