A 24-year-old Georgetown man faces several charges after he attempted two carjackings late Wednesday afternoon near Beaver Dam Road in Lewes, according to Delaware State Police.

The attempted carjackings happened at about 5:25 p.m., when a shirtless black man on Stockley Road flagged down a 49-year-old Milton man and 68-year-old Harbeson man, police said.

Both victims thought the man, later identified as Dionte Stanley, was waving them down due to distress and intended to assist him.

When they stopped, Stanley approached the driver's side door of both vehicles, then began making irrational statements while trying to get inside the vehicles, according to police.
