Veterans Day 2019 Travel Discounts: Deals for Museums, Parks, Zoos, Hotels, Resorts, Transport

On Veterans Day, venues around the country offer special discounts to honor all those who served the country as well as current active military personnel.

Here we highlight some of the various travel offers available on Veterans Day 2019, including at hotels, museums, parks and zoos. Remember to bring your military ID as most venues require verification to access the discounts.

While some offers may not be specifically advertised at the venue's website, all discounts listed here have been confirmed either directly from each company or via press release by Military.com, which is said to be the world's largest online military and veteran membership organization, with 10 million members.

Museums and tours

Veterans can enjoy free admission at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City, as well as half-priced tickets for up to 2 family members until November 14.

Free admission is offered at The Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee to active military members, veterans and their families on November 11.

The Museum of East Tennessee History is offering all veterans, active military members and their families free admission November 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m (local time).

Active and retired military personnel are admitted free of charge at the USS Constitution Museum in Boston on November 11.

The National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington D.C. is offering active military members and veterans free admission on November 11.

The former home of James Madison in Montpelier in Virginia is offering free house tours and museum shop discounts to veterans on November 11.

Monticello, the historic plantation of Thomas Jefferson, in Charlottesville, Virginia, is offering complimentary admission to veterans on November 11.

All active and retired military personnel get free entry to George Washington's former plantation, Mount Vernon in Fairfax County, Virginia, on November 11.

Free admission is available for veterans and active-duty military members at the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 11.

The Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City is allowing former members of the military, plus one additional guest each, free admission on November 11.

The Newseum in Washington D.C., which looks at the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, is offering free admission to all veterans and active-duty members and an additional guest each on November 11.

Current and retired military members plus a guest get free admission and parking at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio on November 11. For the rest of November, all veterans and former military personnel receive $5 off museum admission, while their spouses and dependents receive $3 off, as well as free parking throughout November.

The Orlando Science Center in Florida offers free admission to veterans and 50 percent off for any accompanying family members through November 17.

Current and former military personnel get free admission year-round at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia. Members of the Armed Forces may also purchase up to 4 half-priced general admission tickets for friends and family on November 11.

Parks, gardens and zoos

On November 11, veterans can access free entry to more than 100 national parks.

Current and former military personnel get 50 percent off lodge and cabin rates for stays at West Virginia State Parks through November 15. Presentation of military or veteran status is required.

California's Aquarium of the Pacific is offering free entry to veterans and military personnel on November 11.

On November 11, veterans and active-duty military get free entry to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Washington D.C., while their families get half-off general admission.

Active and veteran military members and their spouses get free admission to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, on November 11.

The Zoo Atlanta in Georgia is offering all veterans and current members of the military free admission and $4 off admission for up to 6 guests on November 11.

Veterans, active and retired military members as well as their dependents get free admission to Alabama's Birmingham Zoo on November 11.

All members of the military get free admission to Cincinnati Zoo on November 11 and up to six half-priced admission tickets for members of their immediate family.

All active-duty military members and retirees get free admission to the Oklahoma City Zoo on November 11.

All active-duty and veteran members of the military, National Guard and Reserves get free admission to the San Antonio Zoo in Texas throughout November and up to 4 immediate family members can receive 50 percent off standard admission prices on the date of their visit. Military members and up to four dependents can also save 20 percent on annual passes.

All military personnel, veterans and their immediate families get free entry to the Sedgwick County Zoo in Kansas on November 11.

All retired and active-duty military personnel get free admission to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in South Carolina on November 11.

Nevada's Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat park is offering all veterans and current/retired military members free admission on November 11, while their guests receive $5 off.

Veterans get free entry to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in Iowa on November 11.

The Knott's Berry Farm theme park in California offers active-duty military and veterans, as well as one guest each, free entry through November 21 and from December 2 to 19. Additional discounted tickets may also be purchased on site.

Through November 22, veterans receive free admission to the LEGOLAND Florida theme park and a 50 percent discount on tickets for up to six guests on the same date of their visit.

The Historic Banning Mills adventure park and resort in Georgia is offering veterans a 15 percent discount on November 11.

Hotels and resorts

Westgate Resorts is giving away 1,500 free vacations at Westgate Vacation Villas and Town Center Resort to all military personnel and their families. Check the Westgate Resorts website on November 11 at 9 a.m. EST to participate in the draw. See the website for full terms and conditions.

The Sanderling Resort in North Carolina is offering current and former military personnel discounted rates of $119 per night from November 11 through March 14, with an additional 20 percent off all food, spa and retail facilities.

Through November 27, Divi Resorts is offering all active-duty and retired military members and their families up to 50 percent off all resorts on Aruba, Bonaire, Barbados and St. Maarten in the Caribbean. The offer is valid for travel through December 20.

All active-duty, retired and honorably discharged members of the military can ski for free at Vermont's Killington Ski Resort on November 11.

All veterans, current military personnel and their families can save up to 20 percent on stays at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts properties, as well as 500 Wyndham Rewards bonus points on stays through December 6.

Super 8 by Wyndham is offering all veterans, active military members and their families 20 percent off the best available rate at selected hotels as well as 500 bonus points to Wyndham Rewards members. Stays must be booked by December 5 and completed by December 6.

Through December 5, all current or retired military personnel, veterans and their families can get 15 percent off their stay at any La Quinta by Wyndham hotel in the U.S. and Canada.

Transport

Active-duty military and veterans can enjoy free ferry services with NY Waterway in New York City on November 11.

The Denton County Transportation Authority of Texas is offering free rides to all veterans and military personnel on November 11.

The Jefferson Lines bus company, which spans 14 states across the Midwest, is offering all veterans and active military personnel free tickets on November 11. They are available for both one-way and round-trip journeys departing on any date from November 11 through November 27. Veterans and active military members can return on a different date for round-trip tickets any time through December 31.
