KFC's Beyond Fried Chicken test extends beyond Nashville and includes Middle Tennessee

The Associated Press
KFC will bring Beyond Meat plant-based fried 'chicken' to Nashville this winter. When the chain debuted the product in Atlanta last year it sold out in 5 hours.

Nashville diners will be able to put down the hot chicken in favor of fake chicken at KFC locations beginning Monday, Feb. 3, the chain announced.

KFC will start testing Beyond Meat plant-based fried chicken in Nashville and Charlotte, according to the chicken chain. KFC locations participating in the test include several counties in Middle Tennessee and some locations in Kentucky.

KFC tested Beyond Fried Chicken last summer in Atlanta, where supplies sold out in five hours. The test will be available through Feb. 23, or while supplies last.

The companies have worked together since then to make improvements to the plant-based chicken.

KFC and Beyond Meat

As the AP reported earlier this year, Beyond Meat already has some serious competition in the plant-based chicken market.

Tyson Foods, one of the world’s largest meat producers, recently announced plans to sell nuggets made from pea protein.

Chicken producer Perdue Farms is also making nuggets, tenders and patties from a blend of chicken and vegetables.
