NFL Week 11 Odds, Picks: Colts Top Packers, Patriots Pummel Texans And More Pro Predictions

This article is more than 3 years old.

Week 11 of the 2020 NFL season is shaping up to be a thrilling one, loaded with meaningful matchups between playoff contenders. It begins this evening when the Arizona Cardinals square off with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, a pivotal clash between rivals vying for a divisional title in the ultra-competitive NFC West. Although the race for the NFC West may be the most competitive—the Cardinals, Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams all boast 6-3 records at this juncture—it is far from the only division at stake this weekend.

There are extremely tight races in the AFC East, AFC South and NFC South, all divisions that have two teams with identical records vying for the top spot right now. The AFC North is the only division in football that has a team—the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers—that is more than two games ahead of the next closest competitor. With seven weeks left to play, much can and will happen before the 2020 NFL Playoff picture truly begins to crystallize. The Sunday afternoon games that are most likely to impact the playoff bracket are the Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens—a pair of 6-3 teams going head-to-head in which the outcome may well determine a Wild Card tiebreaker in the AFC—and the Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers, both division leaders looking to widen the gap over rivals breathing down their necks.

Week 11 comes to close with a pair of key primetime battles. The first will see the AFC West take center stage when the Las Vegas Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders have been the only team to topple the defending Super Bowl champs so far during the 2020 NFL season and will look to cap off a sweep—and earn a valuable tiebreaker—on Sunday Night Football. Some serious seeding implications in the NFC are at stake on Monday Night Football, which will see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers duke it out with the Los Angeles Rams. Both sides are not only in the running to win their respective divisions, but also have a real shot at earning a first-round bye and home-field advantage during the upcoming postseason.

Those looking to make a wager on these pivotal Week 11 matchups and more have come to the right place. Week 11 Betting Trends And Picks

Dave Tuley posted some macro 2020 NFL season betting trends for favorites vs. underdogs, home vs. away and over/under totals going into Week 11:

The Cardinals and Seahawks have split their last six meetings, each outright winning three times. Arizona has been the far more consistent side to bet on, however, going 5-1 ATS in that span, including a 37-34 upset win as 3.5-point underdogs earlier in the 2020 NFL season. It is worth noting that the Cards have struggled on Thursday Night Football, compiling a mere 3-12 SU record over their past 15 appearances in the time slot. Pro Pick: Seahawks -3

The Eagles are underdogs against the Browns for the first time since Cleveland returned to the NFL in 1999. Philadelphia, the side that has won all five of the matchups between these clubs over the past two decades, is getting three points on the road in Week 11.

The Falcons have been a tough team to top when they are coming off a bye, going 9-2 SU and 8-3 ATS over the last 11 games following a break. Their Week 11 opponent, the Saints, are still favored by five even after losing quarterback Drew Brees to a rib injury. New Orleans has won and covered in four of the last five matchups in this NFC South series.

The Panthers are favored against the Lions in Week 11, but Carolina hasn’t been a wise bet in most of its recent games at Bank of America Stadium. The club has failed to cover in eight of their last 14 home contests. These teams have met nine times since 1999, a series the Panthers lead SU (6-3), but Detroit holds an advantage in ATS (5-4). Carolina is 4-1 SU at home against the Lions, with Detroit’s lone road victory coming in the first ever clash between these teams over 20 years ago.

New England has historically dominated its contests against Houston, going 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS across the last nine. The Texans did come out on top both SU and ATS in the most recent game, securing a 28-22 “W” as 3.5-point home ‘dogs in December 2019. Houston hasn’t been a great pick as a ‘dog at NRG Stadium lately though, covering in just two of the last 10 games in which it was getting points at the arena. The Pats are laying 2.5 points during their road trip to Texas on Sunday. Pro Pick: Patriots -2.5

The Steelers are just 1-13 ATS over their last 14 games in which they were favored by 10 or more points on the road. The Jaguars are 4-0 ATS as a double-digit home underdog. Pittsburgh is 10-point chalk in Week 11 at Jacksonville, so be wary about backing the Steelers despite the enormous disparity in SU records—Pittsburgh is 9-0 compared to the Jags at 1-18—during the 2020 NFL season.

The Bengals haven’t won a road game since the 2018 season, going 0-16-1 SU in the 17 away games since their last victory in Week 4 that year. Head coach Zac Taylor is still looking for his first road victory since taking over the reins in 2019, but isn’t favored to secure it in Week 11 versus Washington. These teams last met four years ago in a contest that ended in a tie, but Cincinnati did win the last three matchups prior to that and has a 3-0-1 SU and 3-1 ATS record against Washington in that span.

The total has gone UNDER in nine of the past 12 games involving the Titans and Ravens. Contests featuring these clubs have tended to become defensive-minded affairs, including No. 6 Tennessee holding Baltimore’s high-powered and top-seeded offense to just 12 points in a blowout postseason victory last year in the AFC Divisional Round. The Ravens are favored to get revenge for that elimination on Sunday, opening as 6.5-point favorites in a game that has a total set at 48.5.

The Dolphins have beaten the number in eight of their last nine contests against the Broncos. Denver has outright won two of the last three, however, but isn’t expected to make that three out of four in Week 11. Miami is favored by 3.5 points for its visit to the Mile High this weekend, a sensible line considering the ‘Phins are riding a five-game winning streak—both SU and ATS—into a clash with an opponent that has lost three of its last four SU and ATS.

Chargers team that has won each of their last three games against the Jets. Gang Green conceivably has an advantage thanks to a Week 10 bye, but the club hasn’t done a great job capitalizing on the extra prep time and rest recently. The Jets are just 1-8 SU over their last nine matchups following a bye and Vegas predicts they won’t change that trend in Week 11, putting New York up on the board at +9 for their trip to LA.

The Colts and Packers don’t meet often, but when they do Indianapolis tends to cover the spread. Indy has beaten the number in seven of the nine matchups between these opponents dating back to 1985. The Colts have also outright won six of those games, including the most recent in 2016. The underdog has been a smart play in this series as well, covering three straight times and seven out of nine times overall. Green Bay is getting 2.5 points on the road in Week 11 despite owning a better outright record (7-2) than Indianapolis (6-3) this year. Indy has been an NFL-best 16-6-1 against NFC opponents since 2015, giving the team a slight edge historically over a Pack opponent that 13-9 versus the AFC in the same span. Pro Pick: Colts -2.5

The Cowboys have been the worst team in the NFL during the 2020 NFL season at covering the spread, going just 1-8 against the number leading up to Week 11. Minnesota, Dallas’ upcoming opponent, has been one of the best in this department with a 6-3 ATS record. The Cowboys have historically performed abysmally against this particular opponent as well, covering just once in the last 11 meetings dating all the way back to 1998. They haven’t fared much better straight-up, winning just three of those 11 games. The Vikings won the most recent contest as road underdogs last year and are favored to notch another “W” this time around, laying a touchdown at home.
