PLAINFIELD TWP., Pa. | A Northampton County man accused of sexually assaulting a woman made her shower and took her clothes after the alleged attack to control any possible DNA evidence, according to authorities.

Jeffrey A. Poliskiewicz faces assault and reckless endangerment charges in connection with the hours-long attack inside his Plainfield Township home in which the victim suffered several broken ribs and a torn artery in her neck. District Judge Jacqueline Taschner arraigned the 54-year-old Saturday, setting bail at $200,000.

Officers with the Slate Belt Regional Police Department were dispatched to the St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson Campus on Saturday for an assault victim reporting that she’d been attacked at a Mill Road home in Plainfield Township. She alleged that Poliskiewicz assaulted her there for hours on Jan. 19.

The victim told police that Poliskiewicz grabbed her phone and began assaulting her, including strangling her, according to records. She reported that he beat her throughout the night.

She reportedly convinced him the next day that she wouldn’t report the alleged attack to police. Poliskiewicz allegedly made her shower to “destroy all DNA evidence” and kept the clothes she was wearing and her phone, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said photos taken on Jan. 22 showed bruises on the victim’s legs, arms, hands and throat and cuts on her inner lip, and medical records obtained Saturday noted the victim's other injuries.

Authorities charged Poliskiewicz with two counts of strangulation and single counts of aggravated assault and sexual assault, all felonies. He also faces misdemeanor counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint.

Poliskiewicz failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 7.
