Alabama adds 1,655 coronavirus cases but old data pushing new figures up in 2 counties

Plasma donation

It takes about 90 minutes for someone who's survived COVID-19 to donate convalescent plasma. One donation helps three coronavirus sufferers.

Alabama is approaching 100,000 cases of coronavirus since state tracking started in March.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Aug. 10 10 a.m. numbers show 99,390 COVID-19 cases in the state, up 1,655 from yesterday. The state has recorded 1,733 coronavirus deaths, up 26 from yesterday.

In the past two days, a pair of counties – Montgomery and Mobile – showed large numbers of new cases. On Sunday, Montgomery County showed an increase of 226 cases and, today, Mobile County posted 570 additional cases.

But old data is skewing those numbers, ADPH said.

“The Alabama Department of Public Health dashboard is experiencing a couple of technical issues due to software vendor problem which has now been resolved and some lab data being imported into the system,” ADPH said in a statement. “ADPH is working on these concerns and any additional testing numbers will be updated. Over the weekend, some case numbers from older cases was updated which contributed to an increase in COVID 19 in Montgomery and Mobile.”

ADPH has not confirmed if the data issues are impacting other counties but several places are reporting unusually high single-day increases.

Here are the latest county-by-county coronavirus case numbers with data as reported for Mobile County included. That figure will be revised as new information is released. The figure in parenthesis is the increase from the previous day:
