2,463 new COVID cases in Alabama with 90,702 recoveries; flu activity remains low

Alabama added another 2,463 new COVID-19 cases from the day before.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Nov. 20 10 a.m. numbers show the state has had 228,373 coronavirus cases since March. Of the recent increase, 1,947 were confirmed cases; 516 were presumed cases.

Hospitalizations rose to 1,315.

ADPH reports 90,702 COVID-19 recoveries.

While coronavirus numbers are spiking across the state, influenza rates remain lower than they were at the same point last year. ADPH’s influenza map shows only one area – Jefferson County – had lab-confirmed cases in the last three weeks. All other parts of Alabama were determined to be “districts with no significant influenza reported.”

At this same point last year, the northern and west central areas of Alabama, as well as Jefferson County, reported lab-confirmed cases and one area, east central Alabama, showed “significant” flu activity.
